Jean-Maurice Lasnier was a French Postwar & Contemporary artist known for his transition from classic figurative art to heavy-textured abstract expressionism.
Born in Angers, France, he studied at the School of Fine Arts in his hometown before moving to Paris. There, he trained under René Jaudon for lithography and Jean Souverbie for painting. He started his career in 1946 creating figurative landscapes, nudes, and still lifes. By the 1960s, he definitively embraced abstraction. Heavily inspired by nature, his works feature deep impasto, intense reliefs, and vibrant texturing.
He regularly showcased his work at premier Parisian salons, including the Salon d’Automne and the Salon des Indépendant
